Neither of those 2 were recent..but I never said good players are diminished by the failure to win a state championship...but at the same time if ya wanna talk about how good your tradition or past is it would help to have somethin to back it up with. And if your gonna give me a list of 5-7 guys that played at the same school which has one state crown since 1954 and try to tell me how good they are i'll tell you to have a labotomy.
...And if you ain't down with that, I got 2 words for ya....

LOL Stacy set his record 1994-1997.

It's been 10 years and no one has broken it. No one.

    Re: ALL REGION D BASKETBALL

First of all, I've seen tons of excellent athletes come down the pipes that NEVER got to play in a state championship game. For whatever reason, their career ended with a loss. Does this make them inferior to those who have been fortunate enough to be on a State Championship team? Certainly not. A lot of times, it's being in the right place at the right time with the right athletes with the right coach.
If you have a state ring, consider yourself fortunate, and then show some class toward those who strive to get there but never do.

    Re: ALL REGION D BASKETBALL

Concerning Adam Hood ....... you folks have to remember something else to. I had the privilege to watch Stacy Ervin play during his career. Stacy scored close to 2700 career points and is currently Virginia's all-time leading scorer for all classifications.

Adam Hood's career scoring mark is all that much more impressive because count up the total number of postseason games that Stacy played in compared to the number of postseason games that Adam played in and you will see a slight difference. Adam scored over 2000 points I know for sure... not for sure how much over but... to go over that mark means he was at minimum 650 some points off the all-time mark which for him would be about 20 games.

Now check the postseason play difference in games played between him and Ervin... and you will see that both were pretty dang good.

    Re: ALL REGION D BASKETBALL

Are you really trying to argue that Appalachia and Powell Valley have had as much success in basketball as teams like Twin Springs and Council?

Seriously. Its been over 30 years since Appy or Powell Valley even played in a state championship game.

That has got to be stupidest argument ever made on this forum and thats saying a lot.

    Re: ALL REGION D BASKETBALL

Adam has been a great player.

I think Ervin's record stands out even more because you consider the number of players who've played basketball in the state of Virginia since 1994 in A, AA, and AAA and realize that no one has yet to score more points in their career. I'm sure there have been other players in the state who have played in as many games as Ervin.

    Re: ALL REGION D BASKETBALL

It would have been interesting to see how close the two would be if Adam had played in the same number of games.

    Re: ALL REGION D BASKETBALL

Yes it would. To tie Ervin's record, Adam would have had to play in at least 6 post season games and scored about 27-28 ppg.

The closest anyone has come has been about 157 pts shy of Ervin's record.
